We were fortunate enough that our visit to Ottawa coincided with the annual Winterlude festival, which celebrates the "great Canadian winter." Every year, artists from around the world put their carving skills on display in Confederation Park with dozens of intricately chiseled ice sculptures. We visited the outdoor gallery after our stroll down the Rideau Canal. The sun had set by then and the coloured lights illuminated the crystalline artwork beautifully.
